The Tualatin Hills Park & Recreation District is accepting public comments on a proposed update to its methodology for determining system development charges.
A copy of the proposal may be viewed at THPRD’s main administration office, 15707 SW Walker Road, Beaverton, OR 97006. It is also available online at www.thprd.org. Visitors can access it through a link in the blue box on the home page.
Written comments are due Sept. 14. They may be mailed, or faxed to the Walker Road address or dropped off in person. The fax number is 503/629-6301. An e-mail option is available on THPRD’s web site.
In addition, verbal testimony on the proposal will be taken at the THPRD Board of Directors meeting Oct. 1. The meeting will be held in the Peg Ogilbee Dryland Aquatic Training Center at the Walker Road address.
In general terms, system development charges are fees assessed to developers of new housing units. The fees help pay for new park and recreation facilities resulting from development-related growth.
If approved, the update will be the first to the Park District’s SDC methodology since it was adopted by the THPRD board in 1998.
Formed in 1955, THPRD is the largest special park district in Oregon, spanning 55 square miles and serving more than 200,000 residents in the greater Beaverton area. The district provides year-round recreational and educational opportunities for people of all ages. Offerings include a broad range of classes and more than 200 park sites, 35 miles of trails, eight swim centers, three recreation centers, and 1,100 acres of nature preserve.
